Easy ways to improve your garden

My mother is an avid green thumb, she loves gardening. She grows her own vegetables on an allotment and has studied horticulture for years. I on the other hand have the least green thumbs in the world. I am not a fan of being out doing back breaking work surrounded by creepy crawlies and dirt. I’d much rather hire a cheap gardener to do the work while I delegate!

The back garden is ruined from the bad weather and the dog. The decking is old and worn and the rockery is overgrown. I would love to have a beautiful, safe garden for the kids to play in when the weather improves. It will take a lot of work!

There are a few quick things you can do to improve the look of your garden. Such as;

  1. Clean and varnish decking/woodwork
  2. Cut clean edges around the grass
  3. Clean pots
  4. Prune dying plants
  5. Weed patios
  6. Build a new flowerbed

Simple things can make a big difference to the appearance of the garden. You can be a complete novice like me and still get the garden you want. Even just painting our old decking made a huge difference to the aesthetics of the garden. Baby steps make it seem like less of a mammoth task!

Simple ideas like pallet furniture can add a touch of personality as well as functionality to your garden. Having a clear open space is ideal for families with young kids. Space to play and to have some outdoor toys will make for perfect sunny days! I can’t wait for brighter days to get our garden summer ready!
